Especially interesting is good performance of D.J. Wilson (15 points), Derrick Walton Jr. (15 points), and Will Tschetter (22 points).
#1. D.J. Wilson, a 6'10'' forward who is 30 years old and graduated from Michigan in 2017 after helping them win the Big Ten Tournament that year, currently plays professionally in Puerto Rico. In a recent Puerto Rican Baloncesto Superior Nacional game, he led his team, Cangrejeros de Santurce, to a 99-92 victory over the fifth-ranked Mets with an impressive performance. Wilson contributed 15 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists in 33 minutes of play, showcasing his skills on the court. Cangrejeros de Santurce, currently placed fourth in Group B with a record of 14-14, secured their third consecutive victory thanks in part to Wilson's stellar performance. His noteworthy stats for the season include averaging 10.8 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. Wilson's consistent contributions and standout plays highlight his abilities as a champion player, elevating his team's performance and securing important wins in the tournament.
#2. Derrick Walton Jr., a 6'1'' guard and 31-year-old alum of the Wolverines from 2017, is currently playing professionally in Puerto Rico. Known for his impressive skills, he was awarded the All-Big Ten All-Tournament MVP in 2017. Recently, he led Capitanes de Arecibo to a thrilling 92-88 victory against the sixth-ranked Piratas (9-20) in the Puerto Rican Baloncesto Superior Nacional. In this game, Walton Jr. showcased his talent by scoring 15 points and delivering 8 assists in just 31 minutes of play. Capitanes de Arecibo, currently holding the second position in Group A with a record of 15-11, secured their first win in seven games thanks to Walton Jr.'s outstanding performance. His remarkable contributions, including 15 points, 2 rebounds, and 8 assists against Quebradillas, were instrumental in leading his team to success. His consistent excellence on the court truly reflects his status as a champion. Throughout the season, Walton Jr. has maintained solid statistics, averaging 12.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 8.6 assists per game. His skillful play and leadership make him a key player for Capitanes de Arecibo as they aim for further success in the league.
#3. Will Tschetter, a 6'8'' forward at 23 years old, graduated from Michigan in 2026 after helping them secure the NCAA Champion title that year. Currently playing professionally in Australia, Tschetter showcased his talent by leading the Warwick Senators to a notable victory over the 13th-ranked Giants with a score of 95-85 in the Australian NBL One, the second division league, on Saturday night. Tschetter's stellar performance earned him the MVP title of the game, where he scored 22 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and made all five of his free throws in 36 minutes of play. This exceptional display is made even more impressive by the fact that Tschetter is in his first season of professional basketball. The Warwick Senators, standing at 11th place in the West group with a 5-10 record, greatly benefited from Tschetter's outstanding contributions. In another game against Goldfields G, Tschetter once again proved his prowess by scoring 22 points, securing 4 rebounds, and providing 1 assist. His remarkable performance was instrumental in clinching the victory, solidifying his position as the champion of the game. Throughout the season, Tschetter has maintained impressive statistics, averaging 27.8 points per game, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists, showcasing his consistent excellence on the court.
#4. Experienced champion Trey Burke, a 6'0'' point guard and 33-year-old alum of the Wolverines from the class of 2013, currently plays professionally in Mexico. In a recent game, Burke led the Astros de Jalisco to a resounding 85-73 victory over the closely-ranked Frayles de Guasave, with a stellar performance that earned him the MVP title. He contributed significantly to the win with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals during his 34 minutes on the court. This game was highly anticipated as it featured a matchup between two top 4 ranked teams in the league. The Astros de Jalisco, sitting comfortably at the top of the standings with a record of 38-2, secured their 14th consecutive win thanks in large part to Burke's leadership and skill as a champion. His remarkable display of 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists against the Frayles team highlighted his prowess on the court and his ability to elevate his team to success. Throughout the season, Burke has maintained impressive individual statistics, averaging 17.2 points per game, 2.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.1 steals. His consistent performance and contributions have undoubtedly solidified his reputation as a finalist in the league.
