Outlaws win their first UBA Title; Reed named Finals MVP - Jun 26, 2016

2016 UBA Finals

Thanks to a late three-pointer from point guard Jonathan Reed (6'0''-G-81, college: Clayton St.), the Oklahoma Outlaws are UBA Champions! Despite being ranked the #8 seed coming into the playoffs, opening up against the reigning league champion GIE Maile Matrix, the Outlaws fought their way to three straight wins, including a 69-63 championship-clinching win in versus the #1 Fort Worth F.I.R.M..

It is the Outlaws' first-ever UBA Championship and the first time the Southern Conference hasn't won the championship. The Outlaws were led by UBA All-Stars Jonathan Reed and Zech Smith (7'0''-C-91, college: Morgan St.). Reed was later named UBA Finals MVP averaging just above 15 points per game and 8 assists to led the playoffs. Smith was great on the glass averaging just about 10 rebounds and 2 blocks. Devin Harris (6'0''-PG, college: Okla.Wesleyan) led the Outlaws in scoring with an average of 17.8ppg.

The FIRM were led by James Duffey (6'8''-F/G-84, college: Niagara) in a losing effort. Duffey finished the game with 20 points and 6 rebounds.

Jermaine Barnes wins 2016 UBA All-Star Game MVP: Weekend Results - May 24, 2016

ATLANTA, GA: Jermaine Barnes (6'4''-G/F-83, college: Point, GA, agency: Gamble Sports Management) won the UBA All-Star Game MVP as he scored 25 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists as the South beat the North, 92-89 on Sunday night in Atlanta, GA. The Souths 8 straight All-Star victories set the record for most in All-Star Game history.

This was Barnes' second MVP award in the last 5 years. The former MVP was in attack mode - just like every other game - all night. He was red hot in the 4th scoring 10 points in the quarter.

"It was just good to get out there with the guys", said Barnes. I really just wanted to play a quarter and enjoy the rest of the game; But my teammates wouldn't allow it.

Barnes finished the game with a UBA All-Star record with eight three pointers. GIE Maile Matrix teammates Calvin O''''Neil and Freddie Williams (6'2''-G-87, college: Clayton St., agency: Gamble Sports Management) both added 16 points in the win. Brandon Evans (6'3''-G/F-85) was the high man for the North finishing the game with 20 points in a losing effort.

Anthony Oxley (5'9''-PG-86, college: Mount Aloysius) was named king of the three from the 2nd straight year. Oxley won the 2016 UBA Three Point Title in dominate fashion. He would continue his great shooting at the Rookies vs. Vets All-Star game where he was named co-MVP. Oxley finished the game with 28 points and 4 assists. Teammate Parker Henes (6'9''-F) was the other half of the MVP. Henes shocked the UBA with his dominance on the glass racking up a game high 11 rebounds to go along with 14 points.

Dante Turnipseed (6'0''-PG, college: Tenn Wesleyan) took the air in the 2016 UBA Slam Dunk Contest. He capped off his great performance by jumping over the Chick Fil A mascot for the crown.

Below you will find all award winners.
