Worth Disciples triumphed, 133-130 over the Irving Assault in the URBL Final Game on Saturday night in Dallas, TX, at Lake Arlington Auditorium. This makes the first URBL champion crownd. Irving started doing what they have done all year, letting their star guard Ricky James run the team. The first quarter was very close with Dallas Ft. Worth duo inside and out with Jermaine Barnes, and Jerome Boyd working hard to establish the inside game. At the end of the first quarter DFW trailed, and would continue to run behind most of the game. Holding the lead had Irving constantly fighting off DFW. The Disciples continually launched runs on Irving never falling more than eight points behind in the first half. The second quarter ended with the Disciples down 63-69. The second half proved even tougher for Dallas Ft. Worth as they found themselves in a hole trailing by as much as eighteen points. But Dallas Ft. Worth came back, and cut the lead to five early in the fourth quarter. Irving had other plans and quickly enlarged the gap back up to thirteen. Around the five-minute mark of the fourth, the Disciples made their assault, and it worked: they took the lead with less than three minutes left, and won the game 133-130. Sherman Douglas (6'2''-G-82, college: Faulkner) finished the game with 29 points, 9 rebounds, 19 assists(URBL record) and was named URBL Finals MVP. The high scorer for Dallas Ft. Worth was Jermaine Barnes (6'5''-G-F-82, college: Atlanta Christian) with 46 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists, and 5 steals. Boyd had 34 of his points all coming from the inside leading the Disciples to the title. As for the Assualt Ricky James added 44 points and 8 assists in the loss.
