Notice impressive performance of Jeremiah Hill (19 points), Clay Guillozet (10 points), and Maurice Gordon (14 points).
#1. Cameroonian Jeremiah Hill, a 6'2'' point guard who is 30 years old and graduated from Valdosta St. in 2017, currently plays professionally in France. Recently, he led ES Chalon-Sur-Saone to a thrilling 1-point victory over the closely-ranked SIG Strasbourg (17-13) with a final score of 91-90 in the French Betclic ELITE league. During this game, Hill was named the MVP after an outstanding performance where he contributed 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists in 36 minutes of play. ES Chalon-Sur-Saone, with a record of 16-14, currently holds the ninth spot in the league standings. This victory marked their fourth consecutive win, showcasing the team's growing momentum as they head towards the end of the Regular Season. With only one more game left to play before the playoffs, every match is crucial for the team's positioning. Jeremiah Hill's remarkable display against Strasbourg highlighted his exceptional skills and impact on the court. His impressive stats this season, averaging 15.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.7 steals per game (leading the league in steals), underscore his valuable contributions to the team as a key player. Despite being a naturalized American, Hill has made a name for himself in the European basketball scene, having previously participated in the prestigious Eurobasket Summer League, known as a top platform for players aspiring to compete in overseas basketball leagues. His performance in the recent game further solidifies his position as a champion in the making.
#2. Clay Guillozet, a 6'4'' guard and 28-year-old Blazers alumnus from 2020 who received the All-GSC Player of the Year award that year, currently plays professionally in Germany. In the recent game, Guillozet, a champion in his own right, unfortunately could not lead VET-CONCEPT Gladiators Trier (17-17) to victory against Rasta Vechta (#10), as his team suffered a tough 111-83 defeat on the road last Tuesday. Despite the final score, Guillozet showcased his skills by contributing 10 points and 3 assists in just 16 minutes of play. With only three games remaining until the end of the Play-In, each upcoming match becomes increasingly crucial for Trier's postseason hopes. During the game against Vechta, the finalist displayed an impressive performance by scoring 10 points, grabbing 2 rebounds, and dishing out 3 assists. However, despite his notable efforts, his team fell short and was unable to secure the victory. Throughout the season, Guillozet has maintained solid averages of 9.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game, showcasing his value and contributions as a key player for his team.
#3. Maurice Gordon, a 6'6'' forward aged 26 who graduated from Valdosta St. in 2023 and currently plays professionally in Portugal, was unable to lead Esgueira (9-13) to victory in their recent game last Thursday. Despite his commendable performance, Esgueira suffered an 85-73 defeat at home to the second-ranked Sporting team. Gordon, the team's standout player, showcased his skills by scoring 14 points in 31 minutes of play, making him the second-highest scorer in the game. Despite his impressive efforts, Esgueira was unable to overcome Sporting's strong performance and secure the win. Throughout the season, Gordon has maintained solid statistics, averaging 11.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. His consistent contributions on the court have made him a key player for Esgueira, even though the team faced a setback in their recent matchup against Sporting.
#4. Jayvion Rucker, a 6'9'' forward and 25-year-old Blazers alumnus from 2024, showcased his skills while playing professionally in the Dominican Republic. In a recent game, Rucker made his debut for the Marineros but was unable to lead them to victory. Despite his commendable effort, scoring 10 points and securing 6 rebounds in 25 minutes of play, Marineros suffered a defeat against the higher-ranked Reales (#5) with a final score of 85-80 in La Vega last Thursday. With only four games remaining in the Regular Season, each match now holds immense importance for the team. Rucker's impressive performance against the Reales highlights his potential to make a significant impact on Marineros' upcoming games, as they strive to secure victories and climb up the rankings.
