NW Missouri State men complete first-ever D2 three-peat national champions - Mar 26, 2022

31 points from Trevor Hudgins (6'0''-PG) guided Northwest Missouri State to a 67-58 win over Augusta to win the Bearcats' third straight national title in men's basketball. NW Missouri State is the first program to ever accomplish such a feat. Hudgins began the game with 22 points in the first half. Luke Waters (6'6''-SF) followed Hudgins with 12 points and four rebounds while Mitch Mascari (6'5''-SG) had 11 points and four rebounds. Tyshaun Crawford (7'1''-C-1999) led the Jaguars with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Tyree Meyers and Troy Cracknell (6'4''-G) (seven rebounds, 2-11 FG) both had 12 points. The Bearcats were up 52-40 with a little less than nine minutes left. The Jaguars went on a 16-5 run led by Crawford and Meyers to bring their deficit within one with around two and a half minutes left in the game. Two Hudgins made free throws and a layup by Luke Waters helped the Bearcats pull away. Hudgins earned Most Oustanding Player of the Elite Eight as well. The Bearcats end their season with a 35-5 record and have won the last four out of five men's basketball Division II national championships.

Northwest Missouri State's Hudgins Repeats as NABC DII Player of the Year - Mar 26, 2022

For the second-straight season, Northwest Missouri State guard Trevor Hudgins (6'0''-PG) has been selected as the NABC Division II Player of the Year.
Hudgins becomes just the fourth player to repeat as NABC Division II Player of the Year. His selection for the award marks the third in Northwest Missouri State history, with Justin Pitts (5'10''-PG-1994, college: NW Missouri St.) earning the honor in 2017.
Hudgins has scored with both volume and efficiency again this season for the Bearcats. The junior is averaging 23.1 points on 48.5 percent shooting overall, 41.7 percent on three-pointers and 90.7 percent from the foul line. His 161 made threes are the most in the nation and currently the second-most in a single season in Division II history.
Hudgins has scored 20-plus points in 24 games this season and 30-plus seven times.
Behind Hudgins, the two-time defending champion Bearcats have made another run to the NCAA Division II national semifinals after winning the MIAA Tournament, where he was named the event's Most Outstanding Player.
