#1. Vincentian champion Koby McEwen, a 6'4'' guard who graduated from Weber St. in 2022, is currently playing professionally in Portugal. In a recent game where his team Benfica (20-2) faced FC Porto, McEwen couldn't turn the tide despite his strong individual performance. The league-leading Benfica ended up losing 98-102 at home to the lower-ranked FC Porto, who holds the #3 spot in the league standings. During the game, McEwen showcased his skills by scoring 14 points, securing 5 rebounds, and contributing 3 assists in just 26 minutes of play. Notably, he was flawless from the free-throw line, making all 7 of his attempts. This season marks McEwen's debut with the team, and he has been maintaining an average of 9.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game across the 23 games he has participated in so far. Despite his Canadian citizenship, McEwen's focus remains on excelling on the court as he strives to make a significant impact for his team in Portugal.
#2. Jeremy Senglin, a 31-year-old point guard standing at 6'2'', is a Wildcats alum from 2017 who currently plays professionally in France. In the recent game, he unfortunately couldn't assist Nanterre 92 (21-9) in their matchup against Monaco, which ended in a 78-89 loss on the road for Nanterre. Despite the defeat, Senglin delivered a commendable performance, emerging as the team's second-best scorer with 11 points in just 19 minutes of play. This season marks Senglin's debut with the team, and he has been showcasing his skills consistently. In the game against Monaco, he displayed his talents by contributing 11 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist. However, even with his strong performance, Nanterre was unable to secure the victory. Throughout the season, Senglin has maintained an average of 5.9 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game across the 21 games he has participated in so far. Despite the challenging loss, Senglin continues to demonstrate his value as a skilled player for Nanterre 92.
#3. In the recent game, the 26-year-old champion Zahir Porter, a 6'6'' guard who graduated from Weber St. in 2023 and currently plays professionally in Italy, couldn't lead Rimini (21-16) to victory. Despite his commendable effort, Rimini suffered a 76-84 defeat against the higher-ranked (#4) team, Verona, on their home court. Porter, the finalist, put up a solid performance by contributing 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists in just 25 minutes of play. This noteworthy display of skills is particularly impressive considering that Porter is only in his third season in professional basketball and it is his first year with the team. Throughout the season, Porter has maintained decent statistics, averaging 10.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game in the 15 games he has participated in so far. Despite the loss, Porter's talent and potential were evident as he showcased his abilities against Verona, demonstrating his value to the team as a key player.
