#1. Justin Robinson, a 6'2'' point guard and 28-year-old Virginia Tech graduate from 2019, currently playing professionally in France, showcased his prowess as a champion in Paris Basketball's recent match against the eighth-ranked SIG Strasbourg. With a final score of 89-75 in favor of Paris Basketball, Robinson played a significant role in securing the victory. He contributed 13 points and 7 assists in just 24 minutes of play, highlighting his skill and leadership on the court. Paris Basketball, currently holding the second position in the league with a record of 22-8, greatly benefits from Robinson's consistent performance. His impressive statistics for the season, averaging 12.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game in the 29 games he has played so far, demonstrate his valuable contributions to the team. Robinson's exceptional display against Strasbourg further solidified his reputation as a true champion and a key player for Paris Basketball.
#2. Grant Basile, a 6'9'' forward and former Hokies alumni from the class of 2023, has been making waves in the professional basketball scene in Puerto Rico. Recently, he led the Piratas de Quebradillas to a thrilling victory over the fifth-ranked Cangrejeros with a score of 90-85 in the Puerto Rican Baloncesto Superior Nacional. Basile's exceptional performance earned him the MVP title of the game, as he scored 23 points and secured 8 rebounds in just 26 minutes of play. Despite only being in his third season in professional basketball, Basile's impact on the court has been remarkable. His skill and determination were evident as he helped his team secure their third consecutive victory, showcasing why he is a champion. Currently, Piratas de Quebradillas holds the sixth position in Group A, with a record of 8-17. In another standout game against Santurce, Basile once again displayed his talent by scoring 23 points and grabbing 8 rebounds, contributing significantly to his team's success. His consistent stellar performances have been a key factor in his team's recent wins. Individually, Basile is having an outstanding season, averaging 18.4 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game across five games. His impressive stats reflect his dedication to the sport and his commitment to excellence on the court. It is worth noting that Basile is a naturalized American, adding to his unique background and story as a professional basketball player in Puerto Rico.
#3. Zach LeDay, a 6'8'' forward/center who graduated from Virginia Tech in 2017 and received the All-ACC Honorable Mention award that year, currently plays professionally in Italy. In a recent game, he played a significant role in his team's dominant 93-68 victory over the closely-ranked Brescia in the Italian Serie A last Wednesday. Despite being 32 years old, LeDay showcased his skills by scoring 9 points, grabbing 4 rebounds, and blocking 2 shots during his 27 minutes on the court. The match was highly anticipated as it featured two top 4 ranked teams, with LeDay's team, AX Armani Exchange Milano, currently holding the third position in the league standings. The win marked their fourth consecutive victory, highlighting their strong form in the competition. LeDay's performance against Brescia was instrumental in ensuring his team emerged as the champion in that game. Throughout the season, LeDay has maintained solid statistics, averaging 10.1 points and 3.9 rebounds per game across 29 appearances. Despite being a naturalized American, he has adapted well to the Italian league and continues to make significant contributions to his team's success.
#4. Robbie Beran, a 6'9'' forward and 26-year-old Hokies alumnus from the class of 2024, is currently playing professionally in Portugal. In a recent match, he proved to be a major contributor to FC Porto's win over the closely-ranked Sporting with a score of 94-86 in the Portuguese Liga Betclic Masculina. Beran showcased his talent by recording an impressive 21 points and grabbing 7 rebounds in just 28 minutes of play. This remarkable performance is even more noteworthy considering that Beran is only in his second season of professional basketball. The game between FC Porto and Sporting was highly anticipated as both teams were in the top 4 rankings. FC Porto, currently placed third in the league with a record of 15-7, benefited greatly from Beran's skills on the court. This season, Beran is averaging 9.1 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per game in the 19 games he has played so far. Beran's stellar performance in the match against Sporting truly exemplified his capabilities as a champion player.
#5. Chris Clarke, a 6'5'' forward aged 30, who graduated from Texas Tech in 2020 after playing for Virginia Tech between 2015 and 2019, showcased his talent by leading Ironi Nahariya to a thrilling victory over the fifth-ranked Maccabi Ashdod with a score of 114-108 in the Israeli National League's second division this past Sunday. Clarke's exceptional performance included a double-double, with 12 points and an impressive 13 rebounds, all achieved during a 47-minute game. Ironi Nahariya, currently placed third in the Play-Off group with a record of 23-7, owes much of its recent success to Clarke's contribution on the court. Notably, Clarke's remarkable display against Maccabi Ashdod earned him the esteemed Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com, highlighting his prowess as a champion player. With an impressive season stat line of 12.7 points per game, 9.1 rebounds per game, 5.3 assists per game, and 1.3 steals per game across 30 games, Clarke has proven himself as a standout finalist in the league.
