Courtesy of Eurobasket LLC Every week we bring you a list of the top former Tigers players who continue their career in pro basketball.
Look at great performance of Jeremiah Martin (12 points), Damaria Franklin (22 points), and Trahson Burrell (22 points).
#1. Jeremiah Martin, a 6'3'' point guard who graduated from Memphis in 2019 and received the All-AAC First Team award that year, currently plays professionally in Russia. In a recent game, he unfortunately could not lead Lokomotiv (27-13) to victory as they were narrowly defeated 82-80 on the road by the higher-ranked (#3) Zenit. Despite his commendable efforts, Martin's team fell short in the end. During the game, Martin showcased his skills by scoring 12 points and providing 6 assists in 30 minutes of play. His performance against Zenit was notable, where he contributed 12 points, 1 rebound, and 6 assists. However, despite his strong showing, Lokomotiv was unable to secure the win. Throughout the season, Martin has maintained solid statistics, averaging 13.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game in the 40 games he has participated in so far. His consistent performance on the court highlights his value as a key player for Lokomotiv in their pursuit of success in the league.
#2. Damaria Franklin, a 6'3'' guard and 26-year-old Tigers alumnus from the class of 2023, made a significant impact by helping his team emerge as the champion of the AAC Tournament in that memorable year. Currently playing professionally in Rwanda, Franklin showcased his skills in a recent game where he led the Patriots to a resounding 96-78 victory over the sixth-ranked Kepler team. In this intense match in the Rwandan Rwanda Basketball League, Franklin's stellar performance earned him the title of MVP, as he contributed 22 points and 3 steals in 33 minutes of play. Despite being only in his third season in professional basketball, Franklin's performance was nothing short of impressive. The Patriots Basketball Club Kigali, with a record of 10-3, holds the top spot in the league standings, thanks in part to Franklin's contributions. The recent win marked the team's seventh consecutive victory, showcasing their dominance in the league. As the Regular Season approaches its final game, Franklin's exceptional skills and leadership will be crucial for his team. Against Kepler, he once again demonstrated his prowess by scoring 22 points, securing 2 rebounds, and dishing out 2 assists, ultimately leading his team to victory and solidifying his status as a true champion. Individually, Franklin has had an outstanding year, posting impressive statistics across various categories. With an average of 24.8 points per game, he ranks as the second-best scorer in the league. Additionally, he has been contributing with 6.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.3 steals per game in the 12 games he has played so far, further establishing himself as a standout finalist in the league.
#3. Experienced player Trahson Burrell, a 6'7'' forward/guard who is 33 years old and graduated from Memphis in 2016 after helping them reach the final of the AAC Tournament that year, currently plays professionally in Mexico. In a recent game in the Mexican Circuito de Baloncesto de la Costa del Pacifico, Burrell led Angeles de Ciudad de Mexico to a narrow 80-78 victory over the closely-ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (20-20). His exceptional performance earned him the title of MVP of the game, as he scored 22 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and dished out 1 assist in 45 minutes on the court. Burrell's stellar display highlighted his skills as a champion, contributing significantly to his team's success. As a key player for Angeles de Ciudad de Mexico, currently ranked fifth in the league with a record of 20-20, Burrell has been having an impressive season individually. He boasts strong statistics, averaging 17.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.5 steals per game over the course of 35 games. His consistent performance and valuable contributions demonstrate why he is considered a finalist on the court.
#4. Tyrese Hunter, a 5'9'' point guard and 22-year-old Tigers alum from 2025, played a pivotal role in helping his team secure the AAC Regular Season Champion title that year. Currently playing professionally in Canada, Hunter showcased his skills for the Brampton Honey Badgers in a recent game against the River Lions, where they emerged victorious with a score of 97-86. In that game, he contributed significantly with 5 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals in 27 minutes of play. Despite the Brampton Honey Badgers holding a somewhat weak 7-1 record this season, it is important to note that it is still early in the season, and anything can happen in the games to come. Hunter's exceptional performance in the game against the River Lions highlights his ability to make a significant impact on the court. His remarkable display of 5 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists against Niagara was crucial in securing another victory for his team, ultimately leading them to triumph as the champion. Hunter's impressive statistics this season include averaging 11.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game across eight games, showcasing his consistency and valuable contributions to the team.
