#1. Experienced champion Andre Roberson, a 6'7'' forward at 34 years old, who graduated from Colorado in 2013 and received the USBWA All-District VIII Player of the Year award that year, currently plays professionally in Russia. In a recent game last Friday, despite his exceptional performance, Roberson could not lead Zenit (28-12) to victory as they were defeated 84-76 at home by the lower-ranked Lokomotiv (#4). Roberson showcased his skills on the court by scoring 16 points, grabbing 9 rebounds, and blocking 4 shots in 31 minutes of play, making him the second-highest scorer in the game. This season marks Roberson's first with the team, and he has been a valuable asset, averaging 9.2 points, 6.8 rebounds (ranking fourth in the league), 1.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. Despite his notable contributions, Zenit fell short against Lokomotiv, highlighting Roberson's individual prowess and dedication to his team's success.
#2. McKinley Wright IV, a 6'0'' point guard and 27-year-old Buffaloes alumnus from 2021, currently excels as a professional basketball player in the United Arab Emirates. Recently, he showcased his exceptional skills by leading his UAE team Dubai to a thrilling 83-81 victory against the closely-ranked Partizan in the AdmiralBet ABA League. In this highly anticipated match between two top 4 ranked teams, Wright IV's performance was outstanding. He contributed 12 points and 5 assists in just 25 minutes of play, playing a crucial role in securing the win for his team. This victory marked BC Dubai's third consecutive win, propelling them to the top spot in the league standings with a record of 21-3. Wright IV's consistent and impactful contribution on the court has been instrumental in his team's success, further solidifying his reputation as a true champion. Throughout the season, he has maintained impressive averages of 8.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game, demonstrating his versatility and skill as a top-tier player in the league.
#3. Shane Gatling, a 6'2'' guard who graduated from Colorado in 2020 and currently plays professionally in New Zealand, was unable to lead the Nelson Giants (3-9) to victory in their recent game. Despite his commendable performance, where he scored 16 points in 24 minutes, the Giants suffered a 95-85 defeat on the road against the second-ranked Sharks. Even though Gatling showcased his skills by contributing 16 points and 2 assists against the Sharks, his team ultimately fell short in securing the win. Throughout the season, Gatling has maintained impressive individual statistics, averaging 20.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. It is worth noting that Gatling previously participated in the Eurobasket Summer League, a prestigious platform for players aspiring to pursue basketball opportunities internationally.
