Courtesy of Eurobasket LLC We bring you last week's top former Eagles players who are currently playing in pro basketball.
Notice impressive performance of Xavier Moon (15 points), Jordan Walker (6 points), and Andrew Thelwell (5 points).
#1. Xavier Moon, a 6'2'' guard who is 31 years old and a graduate of Morehead State in 2017, currently plays professionally in Russia. In a recent game last Monday, Moon, despite his notable achievements, was unable to help Zenit (28-12) secure a victory as they were defeated 78-73 at home by the second-ranked UNICS. Moon showcased his skills by recording a double-double, scoring 15 points, dishing out 11 assists, and grabbing 6 rebounds in 35 minutes of play. His strong performance against UNICS included 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 11 assists. Although Moon displayed impressive statistics, his team ultimately fell short and lost the game. Throughout the season, Moon has maintained solid averages of 11.3 points per game, 2.1 rebounds per game, 4.9 assists per game, and 1.5 steals per game.
#2. Jordan Walker, a 6'1'' point guard and Eagles alumnus from 2020, currently playing professionally in Spain, recently competed for Rio Breogan Lugo in a challenging match against Unicaja in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Despite his best efforts, Walker and his team fell short against Unicaja, with a final score of 101-83 in favor of the opponent. Walker managed to score 6 points in just 11 minutes of play, showcasing his skills on the court. This defeat marked Rio Breogan Lugo's first loss after a successful streak of three consecutive victories, highlighting the team's competitive spirit. As the regular season nears its end, Walker's team has only one more crucial game left to play. This season holds significance for Walker as he is in his first season with the team, aiming to make a lasting impact. In the face of the recent defeat, Walker displayed a commendable performance against Unicaja, contributing 6 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist to his team's efforts. Despite averaging 4.3 points per game this season, Walker remains determined to push his team towards success as they prepare for their upcoming decisive match.
#3. Andrew Thelwell, a 6'3'' guard who is 24 years old, graduated from Iowa in 2025. Prior to that, he played for Morehead St. between 2020 and 2024, where he was instrumental in helping them become the OVC Regular Season Co-Champion in his final year. Currently, he is showcasing his skills as a professional basketball player in France. In a recent game, Thelwell, now playing for Elan Bearnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez, played a crucial role in their victory against the tenth-ranked Champagne with a close score of 89-87 in the French ELITE 2 league. Despite only scoring 5 points in 20 minutes, his impact on the court was undeniable. His team, currently holding the second position in the league with a record of 26-12, achieved their third consecutive win, showcasing their strong performance. This season marks Thelwell's debut with Elan Bearnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez, and he has been proving his worth with an average of 10.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. His versatility and skills have been crucial for the team's success. Additionally, Thelwell, a naturalized American, continues to impress with his valuable contributions on the court, demonstrating his potential as a key player for his team.
#4. Alex Gross, a 25-year-old Eagles alumnus from 2023 standing at an impressive 6'10'' and playing as a Center/Forward, currently showcases his skills as a professional basketball player in Austria. Despite his remarkable achievements, such as receiving the All-OVC Defensive Player of the Year award in 2023, Gross faced a tough challenge when his team, the HEFTE HELFEN Bulls Kapfenberg (21-9), competed against the Gunners Oberwart (20-10) in the Austrian Win2Day Basketball Superliga. In their recent matchup, Gross was unable to lead his team to victory over the Gunners Oberwart, resulting in a narrow 79-76 loss for the first-placed HEFTE HELFEN Bulls Kapfenberg. Even though Gross managed to contribute 2 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 assist during the game, it was not enough to secure a win for his team. Consequently, this game may not be remembered as one of his best performances, especially considering his modest average of 5.0 points per game and 3.8 rebounds per game this season. Despite the outcome, Gross remains a formidable player and continues to strive for success as he competes in the Austrian basketball league.
