Courtesy of Eurobasket LLC Here is the weekly review of the top performing Greuhounds alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.
Notice impressive performance of Jaysean Paige (24 points), Marshawn Blackmon (13 points), and Austin Trice (4 points).
#1. Jaysean Paige, a 6'2'' shooting guard who graduated from WVU in 2016 and previously played in Moberly Area between 2013 and 2014, currently competes professionally in Puerto Rico. In a recent match, despite his stellar performance, Paige couldn't assist Mets de Guaynabo (12-14) in securing a victory. The fourth-placed Guaynabo suffered a 91-103 defeat on the road against the leading Vaqueros in Group B, marking their third consecutive loss. Paige stood out as the game's top scorer, contributing 24 points and 6 rebounds in 38 minutes of play. In a separate game against Bayamon, he showcased another remarkable performance with 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist. However, his efforts weren't enough to lead his team to a win. Throughout the season, Paige has maintained impressive individual statistics, averaging 15.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game over 24 appearances. Notably, Paige holds dual American and Puerto Rican citizenship, allowing him to compete in Puerto Rico as a domestic player.
#2. Marshawn Blackmon, a 6'5'' guard and 28-year-old Jets alum from 2020, previously showcased his talent while playing for Moberly Area between 2017 and 2018, where he helped them secure the NJCAA D1 Region 16 Regular Season Champion title that year. Currently playing professionally in Australia, Blackmon recently faced a tough match with the Warwick Senators. Despite his impressive performance of scoring 13 points, grabbing 2 rebounds, and dishing out 2 assists in 35 minutes of play against the second-ranked Wanneroo, his team, the 11th-placed Warwick Senators, suffered a crushing defeat of 113-84 in Joondalup. Throughout the season, Blackmon has maintained high individual statistics, averaging 22.2 points per game, along with 6.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.6 steals in the 14 games he has participated in so far. Despite his outstanding personal achievements, Blackmon's team has faced challenges in securing victories, as seen in their recent match against Wanneroo.
#3. In a recent game in the Dominican Republic Liga Nacional de Baloncesto, Austin Trice, a 6'8'' forward who graduated from ODU in 2022 and previously played for Moberly Area, made a notable impact for Titanes del Distrito Nacional. Despite only scoring 4 points and collecting 9 rebounds in 16 minutes of play, his contributions were instrumental in his team's 91-77 victory over the fifth-ranked Heroes. This marked Trice's debut game for Titanes this season, with the team currently situated in sixth place in the competitive Places 1-6 group. Notably, this win was a significant one for Titanes as it ended a streak of three consecutive losses. Trice's performance, particularly his scoring and rebounding against the Heroes, proved crucial in securing the victory and propelling his team to the status of the champion in that particular game.
#4. Tyree White, a 29-year-old forward standing at 6'8'' and an alumnus of the Warhawks class of 2020, has an impressive basketball resume. While at Moberly Area from 2016 to 2018, he was instrumental in helping the team clinch the NJCAA D1 Region 16 Regular Season Champion title. Currently playing professionally in the Dominican Republic, White is a teammate of the noted player Austin Trice. In a recent game in the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto in the Dominican Republic, White's team, the Titanes, faced off against the formidable Indios. Despite his efforts, White could not lead the Titanes to victory, as they were defeated soundly by the Indios with a score of 103-68. White, who played for 17 minutes, managed to score 4 points and grab 3 rebounds during the game. His individual performance was noteworthy, but unfortunately, it was not enough to secure a win for the team. Throughout the current season, White has been maintaining solid statistics, averaging 7.5 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game in the 14 games he has participated in so far. The champion spirit in White's gameplay is evident, and he continues to strive for success both individually and as part of his team.
#5. Canadian player Sean Miller-Moore, a 6'4'' guard/forward who graduated from GCU in 2022 and previously played for Moberly Area, where he helped them become the NJCAA D1 District IV Champion in 2019, is currently playing professionally in Canada. In a recent game, despite Miller-Moore's standout performance, the Calgary Surge (0-8) suffered a heavy 96-80 defeat at the hands of the Shooting Stars in Toronto. As the top scorer of the game, Miller-Moore contributed 21 points, along with 6 rebounds and 4 assists during his 38 minutes on the court. Although Calgary Surge has faced challenges in the early stages of the season, having lost all eight games so far, there is still potential for improvement and success in the upcoming matches. Despite his team's struggles, Miller-Moore has been showcasing an exceptional performance individually, maintaining high statistics with an average of 22.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game in the five games he has played.
