Spurs won 3rd NBA Championships in last 5 years !!!!
San Antonio Spurs swap the final series against Cleveland Cavaliers 4-0.
It was their 4th championship title since 1999 and 3rd crown in last 5
years. The team completed their first sweep in league history and first
since Los Angeles Lakers had their way with the New Jersey Nets in 2002.
San Antonio can now be called a legitimate dynasty, joining the Boston
Celtics (16), Lakers (14) and Chicago Bulls (6) as the only team in the
league history to win at least four titles.
Despite many calling
LeBron James (6'8''-F-84) (26 points + 6 rebounds + 10 assists) the
best player in the league, he did not have too much help from his
teammates and the Cavs were no match for the Spurs lead by duo
Parker-Duncan. But despite James was not able to get a victory in the
finals, he had something else to celebrate - his second child was born
on the game day...
After two easy games in San Antonio, the situation supposed to be
completely different in Cleveland. However more experienced Spurs did
not allow play-off "Cinderella" to take the title from them and they won
both games on the opponent court.
The Spurs were lead thru the whole series by French playmaker
Tony Parker (6'0''-G-80), who had tonight 24 points and grabbed 7
rebounds. He won MVP honors.
Tim Duncan (6'10''-F-76, college:
Wake Forest) (12+15reb) did his job on both offensive and defensive ends.
But the real hero of the last game was Argentinian
Emanuel Ginobili (6'6''-G-77, agency:
Interperformances). It was real metamorphose as he finally woke up
in the last game after almost disappeared two days ago. Ginobili was the
top scorer for the Spurs with 27 points. It's mostly thanks to his
aggressive gand calculated game in the final minutes (13 points in the
last quarter), San Antonio does not have to carry the series for another
game. The Spurs were definitely more mature team. Cavaliers had their
best season in the history of franchise as they have never made it to
the NBA finals before.
NBA Finals Game 4: San Antonio Spurs - Cleveland Cavaliers
83-82 (19-20, 20-14, 21-18, 23-30)
Spurs: Ginobili 27+5reb, Parker 24+7reb, Duncan 12+15reb, Oberto 7+5reb,
Elson 4, Finley 4, Bowen 2+5reb, Vaughn 2, Horry 1, Barry 0
Cavs: James 24+6reb+10ast, Gooden 11+11reb, Gibson 10+5ast, Ilgauskas
8+13reb, Jones 9, Varejao 8, Marshall 5, Snow 4, Pavlovic 3
NBA All-Star Game 2007
Sunday is always the marquee day at the NBA All Star Weekend. All of the
prior events were great but this was the day everyone anticipated.
Eurobasket had the opportunity to hang out in the East All Stars locker
room before the game. The players were just relaxed joking around and
talking about every day stuff. A few of the players like
Ming Yao (7'5''-C-80),
Carlos Boozer (6'10''-F/C-80, college:
Duke)
and
Allen Iverson (6'1''-G-75, college:
Georgetown) who were hurt just took it easy and enjoyed the
activities. There is a always a mandatory process of interviews and
procedures the players must endure before tip off. They are subjected to
allocated media sessions and their regular routine of preparing for a
game. Most of the guys were concerned with having a fun weekend, playing
good ball and enjoying Las Vegas. Some of the guys talked about playing
golf and Kevin Garnett is a comedian who entertained his teammates and
the media members.
The game started off in a high scoring pace featuring some powerful
dunks by
Dwight Howard (6'10''-F-85),
Vince Carter (6'5''-G-77, college:
N.Carolina) and
LeBron James (6'8''-F-84). The West opened up a 39-31 lead in the
first quarter with a balanced scoring attack. Most of the remainder of
the first half consisted of the West stomping on the Eastern All Stars.
The West took a commanding first half lead into the looker room. The
half time entertainment was great and included performances by Toni
Braxton and Christina Aguillera. In the third quarter the West All Stars
opened the lead up to a 119-88 margin. After this overpowering thrashing
by West the only question remaining in doubt was the MVP voting.
One of the most entertaining moments of the game was when Shaq displayed
his point guard skills. He did a little shake and bake move and a
crossover but bricked his jump shot.
Kobe Bryant (6'6''-G-78),
Amare Stoudemire (6'10''-F-82) and
Carmelo Anthony (6'8''-F-84, college:
Syracuse) dominated the scoring and led the West All Stars to a
153-132 victory. Kobe was the overwhelming fan favorite and scored 31
points to capture his second All Star MVP honors.
LeBron James led the East with 28 points. Las Vegas was the first
non NBA city to host the showcase event of the league. Most observers
are wondering if Las Vegas will ever host a NBA franchise.
