Mario Chalmers’ Buzzer-Beater Guides Miami 305 to Big3 Title-Aug 25, 2025
NCAA legend and a two-time NBA champion, Mario Chalmers (6'2''-PG-1986, college: Kansas) produced a match-winning shot in the Miami 305’s victory in the 2025 Big3 Championship. The former NBA star hit a three-pointer at buzzer time in the second half to help his team to a 52-48 victory over the Chicago Triplets. Miami won their first Big3 title. Miami 305 held the nerves in the championship game in Orlando. They beat the second-seeded Dallas Power 50-47 in the semifinals, with a huge contribution from Lance Stephenson (6'5''-G/F-1990, college: Cincinnati), who scored 23 points and 11 rebounds. When the championship game arrived, Chalmers showed his clutch game.
Among the other former NBA players who won the title with Chalmers in the Miami 305 were his former Heat teammate Michael Beasley (6'10''-F-1989, college: Kansas St.), Lance Stephenson, Reggie Evans (6'8''-F/C-1980, college: Iowa), and Sean Williams (6'10''-F-1986, college: Boston Coll.). Michael Beasley was named the MVP for his 25 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists. Miami were leading 49-48 in the final 10 seconds when Chalmers hit a three-pointer to close the game.
Chalmers last played professional basketball was in 2023 with the Zamboanga Valientes. He had a successful NBA career with two titles with Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013. He spent 10 years in the NBA from 2008 to 2018. Chalmers played three years in the NCAA from 2005 to 2008. During the college career, he won the NCAA title with Kansas in 2008 and joined the NBA.
