Courtesy of Eurobasket LLC We bring you last week's top former Cowboys players who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Spanish champion Yankuba Sima, a 6'11'' center who is 29 years old and graduated from OK State in 2018, showcased his skills in a recent match against the 16th-ranked Gran Canaria team. He played a crucial role in his team's dominant 105-81 victory, contributing 9 points in just 13 minutes of play. Valencia Basket, currently in second place in the league with a record of 25-9, secured their fifth consecutive win thanks to Sima's performance. With only two games remaining in the Regular Season, each match becomes vital for the team's final standings. Against Gran Canaria, Yankuba Sima not only scored 9 points but also grabbed 3 rebounds, demonstrating his value on the court and helping his team clinch the victory to advance as the finalist. Throughout this season, Sima has maintained an average of 3.3 points per game and 2.0 rebounds per game, showing his consistency and contribution to the team's success.
#2. Caleb Asberry, a 6'3'' guard and 26-year-old Cowboys alumnus from 2023, currently playing professionally in New Zealand, showcased his skills by leading the Southland Sharks to a 99-89 victory over the closely-ranked Nuggets in the New Zealand National Basketball League on Sunday night. Asberry, the MVP of the game, put up an impressive performance, recording 29 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals in 34 minutes of play. Despite being only in his third season in professional basketball, Asberry's stellar performance highlighted his talent and potential as a champion. The Southland Sharks, with a record of 9-2, now hold the second spot in the league standings, thanks in part to Asberry's leadership on the court. This win marked the team's eighth consecutive victory, further solidifying their position as finalists in the league. Asberry's exceptional performance against the Nuggets, with his scoring, rebounding, and playmaking abilities on full display, was instrumental in securing the win for his team. His remarkable contributions in the game truly set him apart as a champion. Individually, Asberry has been having a standout season, boasting impressive statistics with an average of 22.6 points per game, ranking him fourth best in the league, along with 4.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. His consistent high-level play has been a key factor in the Sharks' success and his own journey as a top-tier player in the league.
#3. Khalil Brantley, a 6'1'' point guard at 25 years old who graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2025, currently plays professionally in Slovenia. Despite his efforts, he was unable to lead Krka (26-1) to victory against Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana in a recent game. Brantley contributed 7 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists during the match, showcasing his skills on the court. However, Krka, the league leader, suffered a significant 91-74 loss on the road to Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana, the league's eleventh-placed team. Brantley's individual performance reflected his strong season statistics of 15.0 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game, 3.4 assists per game, and 1.9 steals per game, which rank him as the second-best in the league. Despite his impressive stats and contributions, Brantley and his team fell short of securing the victory in this match.
#4. Jeffrey Carroll, a 31-year-old former Cowboys alumni, currently playing professionally in Germany, could not lead Phoenix Hagen to victory in their recent game against the Knights. Despite his outstanding performance, Phoenix Hagen, the league leader, suffered an 86-82 defeat at the hands of the lower-ranked Knights (#6). Carroll, standing at 6'6'' and playing as a forward/guard, showcased his skills by scoring 13 points and grabbing 6 rebounds in just 17 minutes of play. This marked his first season with the team, and he has been maintaining solid statistics throughout, averaging 12.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game. Despite his impressive individual performance against Kirchheim, Carroll's efforts were not enough to secure a victory for his team, as they fell short in the end.
#5. Israeli champion Daniel Guetta, a 6'2'' player who graduated from OK State in 2026 and currently plays professionally in Israel, faced a tough challenge as his team, Bnei Hertzeliya (18-8), fell short against Hapoel Holon (15-11) in the Israeli Winner League. Despite his efforts, Guetta could not lead his team to victory in the match. He contributed with 2 points in just 6 minutes of play, which was not one of his standout performances. The fourth-placed Bnei Hertzeliya suffered a 99-84 defeat in Holon, where the lower-ranked Hapoel (#5) emerged victorious in the Places 1-8 group. This loss marked Bnei Hertzeliya's first defeat after a series of three consecutive wins. Throughout the season, Guetta has been averaging 1.8 points per game.
