Courtesy of Eurobasket LLC Every week we bring you a list of the top former Racers players who continue their career in pro basketball.
Especially interesting is good performance of Jonathan Stark (15 points), Jarvis Williams (18 points), and Wayne Langston (6 points).
#1. Jonathan Stark, a 31-year-old guard standing at 6'1'' and a graduate of Murray State in 2018, currently plays professional basketball in Romania. Despite his impressive performance in the recent game, he could not help Dinamo Bucuresti, who faced a tough loss to the lower-ranked Craiova with a final score of 101-105 on the road. In the game, Stark showcased his skills by scoring 15 points, securing 4 rebounds, providing 4 assists, and making 3 steals in 31 minutes of play. Despite his contributions, Dinamo Bucuresti fell short against Craiova. Throughout the season, Stark has maintained relatively good statistics, averaging 13.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game in the 24 games he has played so far. His consistent performance on the court highlights his value as a key player for Dinamo Bucuresti in their quest to become champions.
#2. Experienced champion Jarvis Williams, a 33-year-old center/forward standing at 6'8'' and an alumnus of the Racers from 2015, currently plays professionally in Lebanon. In a recent matchup, he led Al Riyadi to a crucial victory over the closely-ranked Sagesse (18-4) with a score of 94-86 in a highly anticipated derby game in the Lebanese Decathlon Lebanese Basketball League last Saturday. Known for his skills on the court, Williams showcased a stellar performance, achieving a double-double with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 blocks in just 26 minutes of play. The game between Al Riyadi and Sagesse was a highlight of the round, featuring two top 4 ranked teams battling it out. With this win, Sporting Al Riyadi Beirut (21-1) maintains its position at the top of the league standings. As the Regular Season nears its end, Williams' upcoming game holds significant importance for his team's playoff prospects. Williams' exceptional display against Sagesse not only contributed to the team's victory but also earned him recognition, including the prestigious Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com. His consistent performance throughout the season, averaging 14.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game in three games, further cements his reputation as a champion player in the league.
#3. Wayne Langston, a 6'8'' forward/center who is 32 years old and graduated from Murray State in 2016, currently plays professionally in Argentina. He was instrumental in Boca Juniors' unexpected triumph over league leaders Quimsa, with a final score of 99-92 in the Argentinian La Liga last Friday. In the game, Langston contributed 6 points in 15 minutes of play. Boca Juniors Buenos Aires, currently placed eighth in the league with a record of 20-15, benefited greatly from Langston's performance against Quimsa. He not only scored 6 points but also secured 2 rebounds and provided 1 assist, helping his team emerge as the champion of the game. Throughout this year, Langston has maintained an average of 8.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assist per game in a total of 33 games. His consistent contributions have been crucial to Boca Juniors' success in the league, showcasing his skills and value as a key player for the team.
#4. Darnell Cowart, a 6'8'' forward and 27-year-old Racers alumni from 2020, was instrumental in helping his team clinch the OVC Regular Season Co-Champion title that year. Currently playing professionally in Indonesia, Cowart unfortunately could not lead Tangerang to a victory in their recent game against Dewa United, which ended in a 102-70 defeat for Tangerang on their home court. Despite the loss, Cowart managed to contribute significantly to his team's effort by scoring 4 points, grabbing 4 rebounds, and providing 1 assist in just 10 minutes of play. This performance showcased his skills and determination on the court. However, Dewa United's strong play proved too much for Tangerang, resulting in their fourth consecutive loss. Individually, Cowart has been having an impressive season with remarkable statistics. He is averaging 16.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.8 steals per game over the course of nine games. His consistent performance and all-around contributions demonstrate his value as a player despite the recent challenges faced by his team.
