#1. Experienced U.S. Virgin Islands champion Deon Edwin, a 6'4'' guard aged 33, graduated from Kent St. in 2017. He played at Laramie CC between 2013 and 2014, earning the NJCAA All-Region IX First Team award that year. Currently, he is playing professionally in Hungary. In a recent game, Edwin, the finalist, couldn't lead Atomeromu (17-9) to victory against Kaposvari (17-9) in the Hungarian Nemzeti Bajnoksag I/A league. Even though Edwin was the second-leading scorer with 9 points, he also contributed 5 rebounds and 6 assists during his 31 minutes on the court. Atomeromu, in 7th place with a record of 17-9, suffered a 66-73 loss on the road to the 3rd-ranked Kaposvari in the Play-Off group. This marks Edwin's first season with the team. Despite his strong performance against Kaposvari, where he scored 9 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and provided 6 assists, his team couldn't secure the win. Throughout the season, Edwin has maintained solid statistics, averaging 13.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.2 steals per game in the 34 games he has played so far.
#2. Canadian Marko Maletic, a towering 6'6'' guard and alumni of the Leathernecks from 2025, showcased his skills in the Canadian Elite Basketball League. Despite previously playing at Laramie CC between 2020 and 2022, he made a significant impact in his debut game for the Ottawa Blackjacks. In a thrilling match against the Alliance with a record of 2-4, the Blackjacks emerged victorious with a scoreline of 90-79 on Sunday night. Maletic contributed 5 points and 2 rebounds in just 13 minutes of play, demonstrating his value to the team. This marked his first appearance for the Blackjacks this season, and his performance was instrumental in securing the win. Although the team currently holds a somewhat modest 3-3 record this season, it is still early in the competition, leaving room for improvement and exciting possibilities. Furthermore, Maletic continued to impress in a subsequent game against Montreal, where he once again scored 5 points and grabbed 2 rebounds. His impactful contributions helped lead the Blackjacks to victory, further solidifying his status as a champion in the making. With his skills and determination, Maletic is poised to make a significant impact as the season progresses.
