Courtesy of Eurobasket LLC Here is the weekly review of the top performing Bears alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Shevon Thompson (7'0''-C-1993, played in 2013-14, plays pro in Serbia) could not help one of league's weakest teams Spartak (2-2) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Spartak lost 62-77 on the road to the leading Gran Canaria. Thompson had a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 11 rebounds in 25 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the Basketball Champions League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Thompson has relatively good stats this year 13.3ppg and 8.3rpg in four games he played so far.
#2. Yazid Powell (6'4''-G, played in 2021-22, plays in Cyprus) led Etha to a victory over the closely-ranked APOEL (3-3) 98-94 in a derby game in the Cypriot ECOMMBX BL last Friday. He was MVP of the game. Powell recorded a triple-double by scoring 29 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and passing 10 assists; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his second season in pro basketball. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Etha Engomis Nicosia (3-2) is placed third in the ECOMMBX BL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Powell's first year with the team. Powell has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages 24.5ppg, 6.5rpg, 7.0apg and 3.0spg.
#3. Maximiliano Andreatta (6'11''-C/F-1998, played in 2017-19, currently in Spain) contributed to Castello's victory against the 12th-ranked Salou (1-5) 106-97 in the Spanish Segunda FEB (third division) on Sunday night. He scored 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in a mere 18 minutes. Amics Castello (4-2) is placed fourth in East group. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's Andreatta's first year with the team. This season Andreatta averages 8.5ppg and 3.3rpg in six games. He has also Italian nationality.
#4. Channick Nkoma (6'8''-F, played in 2019-20, plays pro in France) was not able to help Union Rennes Basket 35 in their game against Lourdes-Tarbes (7-3) in the French NM1 (third division). Nkoma's contribution was not very remarkable in Friday's game. He scored only 2 points. The 11th-placed Union Rennes Basket 35 (3-6) was crushed84-60 on the opponent's court by the much higher-ranked Lourdes-Tarbes (#3) in the Group A. This season Nkoma averages 7.0ppg and 6.2rpg.
