We bring you last week's top former Commodores players who are currently playing in pro basketball.
Notice impressive performance of David Jackson (12 points), Eric Buckner (20 points), and Kevon Godwin (34 points).

#1. Experienced champion David Jackson, a 6'4'' guard at 43 years old, who graduated from Penn State in 2007 and also played at Gulf Coast CC between 2003 and 2004, currently plays professionally in Brazil. Last Friday, he led his Brazilian team Sesi/Franca Sao Paulo to a victory against league leader Nacional with a score of 83-71 in the Basketball Champions League Americas. In this crucial game between two top 4 ranked teams, Jackson recorded 12 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals in 29 minutes of play. This victory marked Sesi/Franca Sao Paulo's fourth consecutive win, propelling them to the top position in the league standings. This season marks Jackson's fifth year with the team, and his performance against Nacional highlighted his importance as a key player in his team's success. Scoring 12 points, grabbing 2 rebounds, and providing 3 assists, Jackson's contributions were instrumental in securing the win for his team. His stellar performance on the court exemplified his prowess as a finalist player, showcasing his skills and experience as a valuable asset to the team. Individually, Jackson has been having an exceptional year, demonstrating impressive statistics with an average of 15.1 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, 3.0 assists per game, and 1.3 steals per game in the 10 games he has played thus far. His consistent performance and leadership have undoubtedly contributed to his team's success and solidified his reputation as a champion athlete.

#2. In the recent game, Eric Buckner, a 6'10'' center and Panthers alumni from 2012, showcased his skills for Final Spor but couldn't prevent his team from a narrow 89-88 defeat against the #10 ranked Cedi Osman. Despite his exceptional performance, where he achieved a double-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks in 35 minutes of play, Final Spor suffered their fourth consecutive loss. This game marked the end of the Regular Season, with Final Spor finishing with an 11-22 record. Buckner, who previously played at Gulf Coast CC from 2008 to 2009 and now competes professionally in Turkey, joined Final Spor for his first season with the team. Throughout the season, he has maintained impressive statistics, averaging 13.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game over the 11 games he has participated in. Despite his noteworthy contributions, Final Spor was unable to secure a victory in their last game, with Buckner's efforts not being enough to clinch the win over Cedi Osman.

#3. Kevon Godwin, a 6'2'' guard who graduated from Angelo St. in 2024 after playing for Gulf Coast CC between 2018 and 2020, where he helped them become the NJCAA D1 South Atlantic District Champion in 2020, is currently playing professionally in Luxembourg. In a recent game, Godwin couldn't lead Arantia (18-4) to victory as they were narrowly defeated 92-90 by T71, ranked #6 in the Places 1-8 group. Despite the loss, Godwin showcased an impressive performance by scoring 34 points, along with 3 rebounds, and 5 assists. He also made 3 steals and went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line in the 40 minutes he played. This remarkable display is noteworthy, especially considering that he is only in his second season of professional basketball. The defeat against T71 marked Arantia's first loss after a streak of ten consecutive victories. This season, Godwin has been excelling individually, averaging 23.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.7 steals per game in the 23 games he has played so far. Despite the outcome of the recent game, Godwin's strong performance underscores his impact on the team and his development as a player in his first year with Arantia.

#4. Maurice Gordon, a 6'6'' forward and 26-year-old Blazers alumnus from 2023, previously played for Gulf Coast CC between 2018 and 2020, where he notably helped them clinch the NJCAA D1 South Atlantic District Champion title in that year. Currently, he is playing professionally in Portugal. In a recent game, Gordon was unable to lead his team, Esgueira (8-13), to a victory against the formidable Benfica (19-2) in the Portuguese Liga Betclic Masculina. Despite his efforts, Gordon scored 7 points in 24 minutes as Benfica dominated the game, resulting in a disappointing 107-65 loss for Esgueira on their home court. As the regular season nears its end, Gordon's team has only one more crucial game left to play. In the match against Benfica, Gordon displayed his skills by contributing 7 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist. Despite his impressive performance, Esgueira fell short, adding to the champion's frustrations. Throughout the season, Gordon has maintained solid statistics with an average of 10.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game in nine appearances.

#5. Nigerian player Simeon German, a towering forward standing at 6'10'' who graduated from Citadel in 2026, showcased his basketball prowess recently in a game for Maccabi Ma'ale Adumim. Despite previously playing for Gulf Coast CC between 2021 and 2023, German has now taken his talents to the professional courts in Israel. In a recent matchup against the closely-ranked Maccabi Haifa with a record of 7-20, German's performance was instrumental in Maccabi Ma'ale Adumim's 87-77 victory in the Israeli National League's second division. The champion forward contributed significantly with 9 points, an impressive 14 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 blocks during his 33 minutes of play. Currently, Maccabi Ma'ale Adumim holds the 14th position in the league with a record of 8-20. With only two games remaining in the Regular Season, every game is crucial for the team's standing. German's remarkable display of skills and determination as a finalist will be vital in the team's upcoming games. Throughout the season, German has been maintaining solid averages of 7.0 points per game, an impressive 12.5 rebounds per game, 1.5 assists per game, and 3.0 blocks per game over the course of two games played. His consistent performance highlights his potential as a champion player in the making.

#6. Ronald Whitaker, a 6'7'' guard/forward who is 31 years old and an alumnus of the Golden Panthers from 2018, showcased his exceptional skills in a recent game in The Basketball League. Despite having played in Gulf Coast CC between 2013 and 2014, Whitaker now competes professionally in the TBL. In a thrilling match last Sunday, he led the DMV Soldiers to a narrow 104-103 victory over the Raleigh Firebirds. Whitaker's stellar performance earned him the MVP title, as he scored an incredible 42 points, secured 9 rebounds, and provided 1 assist in just 36 minutes of play. His remarkable display not only led his team to victory but also garnered him the prestigious Elite Badge from eurobasket.com, highlighting his status as a champion player. Whitaker's consistent excellence is evident in his impressive season statistics, averaging 20.2 points per game, 7.2 rebounds per game, and 1.2 steals per game across six games. His outstanding contributions on the court solidify his reputation as a finalist player with immense talent and dedication.

#7. Cobe Goosby, a 6'5'' guard who is 24 years old, graduated from UAM in 2018. He honed his skills playing at Gulf Coast CC from 2014 to 2016, where he earned the All-Panhandle Conference Second Team award. Currently, Goosby competes professionally in the TBL. In a recent game, Goosby and his team, the Dallas Stampede, faced off against the Enid Outlaws. Despite his efforts, Goosby could not lead his team to victory, with the Stampede falling short to the Outlaws in a 85-97 defeat. Although Goosby had a decent performance, contributing 3 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist in 14 minutes of play, he did not consider Sunday's game to be one of his best showings. Throughout this season, Goosby has been averaging 4.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game across seven games. Despite the loss to the Enid Outlaws, Goosby continues to strive for excellence and aims to make significant contributions to his team's success in the TBL.
