#1. Experienced 6'8'' center/forward Jarvis Williams, a 33-year-old player who graduated from Murray State in 2015 and previously played at Gordon Community College between 2011 and 2013, showcased his skills in leading Al Riyadi to a crucial victory over the closely-ranked Sagesse team with a score of 94-86 in a highly anticipated match in the Lebanese Decathlon Lebanese Basketball League on Saturday night. Williams, currently playing professionally in Lebanon, displayed his prowess on the court by achieving a double-double performance, contributing 18 points and securing 12 rebounds along with 2 blocks in just 26 minutes of play. This game was a significant showdown between two of the top 4 ranked teams in the league, with Sporting Al Riyadi Beirut (21-1) holding the top position. With only two games remaining until the end of the Regular Season, each match has now become crucial in determining the final standings. Williams' exceptional performance against Sagesse not only helped his team secure the victory but also earned him the prestigious Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com, further solidifying his reputation as a champion player. Throughout the season, Williams has maintained impressive individual stats, averaging 19.0 points per game, 10.0 rebounds per game, and 2.0 blocks per game, showcasing his consistent excellence on the court.
#2. Raynere Thornton, a 6'7'' forward and Tigers alumnus from 2019, is currently playing professionally in Slovakia. Despite his efforts, he could not lead Slovan (23-13) to victory against Levice (30-6), the reigning champion of the Slovakian Tipos Slovenska Basketbalova Liga. In this recent matchup, Thornton scored 7 points in 24 minutes of play as Slovan suffered a crushing defeat of 126-76 on the road. This season marks Thornton's debut with the team, and he has been displaying solid performance statistics with averages of 11.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. In the game against Levice, Thornton showcased his skills by contributing 7 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists, but unfortunately, his team fell short against the defending champion.
#3. Cornellius Reynolds, a 6'6'' small forward aged 28, who graduated from Claflin in 2020 but previously played at Gordon CC between 2017 and 2018, showcased his exceptional skills as he led the PrimeTime Players to a thrilling 164-162 victory over the Carolina Panthers in the East Coast Basketball League on Saturday night. In a standout performance, Reynolds was named the MVP of the game after recording a double-double with 43 points, 23 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 blocks, and 3 steals. The PrimeTime Players, with a somewhat modest 9-3 record this season, secured their third consecutive win, thanks in large part to Reynolds' stellar contributions. His remarkable display on the court against the Carolina Panthers earned him an Elite Badge from eurobasket.com, further establishing his reputation as a champion player. Reynolds' individual season performance has been impressive, averaging 33.0 points per game (fourth-best in the league), 17.1 rebounds per game (second-best in the league), 5.7 assists per game, 2.2 blocks per game (third-best in the league), and 2.0 steals per game. As the PrimeTime Players gear up for their final game of the East Coast Basketball League Regular Season, Reynolds' outstanding skills and leadership will undoubtedly be critical for his team's success.
#4. Derek St. Hilaire, a 6'0'' point guard and 27-year-old alum of Privateers from 2022, previously played at Gordon CC between 2017 and 2018 before turning pro in Israel. In a recent game last Wednesday, St. Hilaire, despite his exceptional performance, could not carry H. Safed Galil (4-26) to victory against the top-ranked H. Migdal in the Play-Out group. The seventh-placed H. Safed Galil suffered a 131-121 defeat at home. St. Hilaire showcased his talent by scoring 28 points, securing 7 rebounds, dishing out 8 assists, and making 5 steals, while also making all five of his free throws during the 40 minutes he played. Although his individual performance was impressive, his team was unable to secure the win. Throughout the Play-Out Round, St. Hilaire consistently delivered outstanding performances, finishing the season with remarkable statistics. He averaged 26.5 points per game, ranking second best in the league, along with 5.2 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 2.1 steals per game, which placed him third in the league. Despite his team's challenges, St. Hilaire's skills and contributions have undoubtedly made him a standout champion in the league.
