#1. Dominican Republic's Jhery Matos is a standout basketball player standing at 6'5'' and playing as a shooting guard. At 30 years old, he graduated from Charlotte in 2021 and previously played for East Florida State between 2016 and 2017, where he helped them reach the final of NJCAA D1 District VIII. Currently, he is a professional player in the Dominican Republic. In a recent game in the Dominican Republic Liga Nacional de Baloncesto, Matos led Metros de Santiago to a thrilling 88-86 victory over the sixth-ranked Titanes. He was instrumental in the win and was named the MVP of the game after scoring 15 points and providing 3 assists in just 23 minutes on the court. Metros de Santiago, with a record of 16-5, is currently at the top of the standings in the Places 1-6 group, having secured their third consecutive victory. Matos delivered an exceptional performance against the Titanes, showcasing his talent by scoring 15 points, grabbing 3 rebounds, and making 3 assists. His skills and contributions were crucial in securing the victory for his team, ultimately leading them to become the champion of the game. Throughout the season, Matos has maintained an impressive average of 9.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game, demonstrating his value as a key player for Metros de Santiago.
#2. Eli Abaev, a 6'8'' forward/center who is 27 years old, is an Eagles alum from 2021. Between 2016 and 2018, he played for E. Florida St., where he helped them become the Mid-Florida Conference Regular Season Champions in that year. Currently, Abaev plays professionally in Israel. Despite his impressive performance, the third-placed I. Nahariya (23-7) was defeated 86-82 at home by the lower-ranked M. Ashdod (#5) in the Play-Off group last Monday. Abaev, the top scorer of the game with 15 points and 6 rebounds in just 20 minutes, could not secure a win for his team. This is Abaev's first season with the team, where he has been averaging 9.9 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. It is notable that Abaev holds both American and Israeli citizenship, allowing him to play in Israel as a domestic player.
#3. Ruot Monyyong, a 6'11'' forward aged 28, graduated from UALR in 2021 but previously played for Eastern Florida State College in 2017 and 2018, where he was instrumental in helping them secure the Mid-Florida Conference Regular Season Champion title that year. Currently playing professionally in Mexico, Monyyong recently showcased his skills as his team, Frayles de Guasave, clinched a crucial victory against the closely-ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon with a score of 103-99 in the Mexican Circuito de Baloncesto de la Costa del Pacifico on Saturday night. During the game, Monyyong made a significant impact by contributing 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 blocks in just 25 minutes of play. This matchup was highly anticipated as it featured two of the top 4 ranked teams in the league, with Frayles de Guasave (23-17) currently holding the second position in the standings. In his standout performance against Obregon, Monyyong not only displayed his scoring and defensive prowess but also showcased his passing ability with 1 assist, ultimately playing a crucial role in securing the victory for his team and helping them emerge as the finalist. Throughout the season, Monyyong has maintained solid averages of 9.1 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per game, and 1.3 blocks per game, further solidifying his reputation as a key player on the team.
#4. South Sudanese Junior Madut, a 6'5'' guard who is a 29-year-old former Rainbow Warriors player from the class of 2023, showcased his talents last Saturday despite his team's unfortunate outcome. Playing for the Rockhampton Rockets, who are currently 11th in the standings with a 2-9 record, Madut faced off against the South West Metro Pirates, ranked 13th in the North group. Despite Madut's impressive performance where he scored 15 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, dished out 8 assists, and blocked 2 shots in 36 minutes, the Rockhampton Rockets were defeated 122-111 on the road. Throughout the season, Madut has been a standout player with notable statistics, averaging 15.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. It is noteworthy that Madut holds dual American and South Sudanese citizenship, allowing him to be considered a domestic player in South Sudan if he chooses to play there professionally.
#5. Shaheed Davis, a 6'9'' power forward and 32-year-old UCF graduate from 2016, who also played for East Florida State in 2013 and 2014, where he helped them become the Southern Conference Champion, is currently showcasing his talents playing professionally in Thailand. Recently, he led Hitech Bangkok City to a hard-fought victory over the Dragons, with a final score of 90-83 in the Thailand Basketball Thai League, on a Saturday night. During this game, Davis displayed exceptional skills and was named the Most Valuable Player. He achieved a double-double performance by scoring 22 points, securing 15 rebounds, and contributing 3 assists, while impressively making all seven of his free throw attempts, all within 33 minutes of playtime. Hitech Bangkok City, with a record of 4-0, currently holds the second position in the league standings. The team has been undefeated in the Regular Season, winning all four games. Davis' remarkable performance against the Shoot it Dragons not only led his team to victory but also earned him the prestigious Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com. His consistent high-level performance throughout the season, with an average of 18.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game, highlights his exceptional talent and contribution to the team. Shaheed Davis has truly proven himself as a champion on the court, showcasing his skills and determination game after game.
#6. Nigerian athlete Mike Nuga, a 6'2'' guard, is a 28-year-old Runnin' Rebels alumnus from 2022, having previously played at East Florida State between 2016 and 2018. During his time at East Florida State, Nuga played a key role in helping them secure the Mid-Florida Conference Regular Season Champion title that year. He now showcases his skills as a professional player in Canada. Most recently, Nuga played a crucial role in leading the Edmonton Stingers to a decisive victory against the Alliance, with a commanding score of 98-78 in the Canadian Elite Basketball League. In this game, he contributed 15 points and 6 rebounds in just 25 minutes of play, showcasing his prowess on the court. Despite encountering an error message (The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error), Nuga has maintained an impressive season average of 7.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. It is also noteworthy that he holds dual citizenship, being both American and Nigerian, which allows him to compete in Nigeria as a domestic player.
#7. Canadian Markus Harding, a towering 6'10'' center who graduated from Indiana St. in 2026 after playing for E. Florida St. between 2020 and 2022, has proven his skills by helping his team to win the FCSAA Central Conference Regular Season Co-Champion title during his time there. Currently playing professionally in Canada, Harding recently faced a tough challenge when his team, the Saskatchewan Mamba, fell short against the Bandits. Despite his efforts, the game didn't go as planned, with Harding only managing to score 2 points in 11 minutes of play as his team suffered a 20-point defeat with a final score of 105-85. Although the game against the Bandits was not one of his best performances, Harding showcased his abilities in a previous matchup against Vancouver, where he contributed 2 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist. Unfortunately, his individual efforts were not enough to secure a victory for his team. Throughout the season, Harding has been averaging 5.0 points per game and 2.8 rebounds per game, demonstrating his consistent contributions on the court.
