Courtesy of Eurobasket LLC Here is the weekly review of the top performing Gila Monsters alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Experienced Mike James (6'1''-PG-1990, played in 2008-10, plays pro in France) was the major contributor in an AS Monaco Basket's victory against the closely-ranked FC Barcelona (20-14) 97-80 in the Euroleague in Wednesday night's game. He recorded 22 points and added 4 assists in 28 minutes. AS Monaco Basket (21-13) is placed fourth in the Euroleague. It's James' fourth season with the team. James has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 15.6ppg, 2.8rpg, 5.7apg and 1.1spg in 36 games he played so far.
#2. Nathaniel Pollard Jr. (6'5''-F-2000, played in 2018-20, plays in Finland). Pollard Jr. could not help Karhubasket (22-10) to beat Seagulls (27-5) in the Finnish Korisliiga. He recorded 7 points, 16 rebounds and 3 blocks. The second-placed Karhubasket (22-10) was crushed89-56 on the road by the leading Seagulls in the Places 1-6 group. Pollard Jr. has relatively good stats this season 11.6ppg, 9.3rpg, 2.5apg, 1.1bpg and 1.6spg. Worth to mention he played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.
#3. Joe Cook-Green (6'1''-G-1997, played in 2017-18, currently in Australia), who plays in the Australian NBL One (second division) was not able to help Perth Redbacks (3-1) in their last game. Despite Cook-Green's good performance the fourth-placed Perth Redbacks (3-1) were crushed119-83 in Perth by the higher-ranked (#3) Senators in the West group. He was the second best scorer with 11 points in a mere 18 minutes. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Cook-Green has very impressive stats this year 19.8ppg, 2.5rpg and 2.5apg in four games.
#4. Leigh Rickwood-Pitt (6'10''-F-2003, played in 2022-24, plays pro in Australia) contributed to a Goldfields Giants' victory against the eighth-ranked Redbacks (2-3) 92-82 in the Australian NBL One (second division) in Sunday night's game. He scored 9 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and made 2 blocks. Goldfields Giants (1-3) are placed ninth in West group. But the season just started, so everything may happen. This year Rickwood-Pitt averages 10.0ppg, 6.0rpg and 1.5bpg.
