#1. Mark Gordon, a versatile player standing at 6'5'' and having graduated from Keiser in 2020, showcased his basketball prowess by leading Cayo Western Ballers to a decisive victory over the Suns in a recent Belizean Belize Elite Basketball League game. The match ended with a score of 100-61 in favor of Cayo Western Ballers, with Gordon proving instrumental in the win. His stellar performance earned him the title of MVP, as he achieved a remarkable double-double with 43 points and 16 rebounds, while also contributing 4 steals in just 35 minutes of play. Despite the Suns' outsider status with a record of 1-11, Gordon's exceptional display on the court highlighted his skill and leadership. The victory was a much-needed boost for Cayo Western Ballers, as it marked their first win following three consecutive losses. The team, currently holding the third position in the league with a record of 7-4, is undoubtedly benefiting from Gordon's impressive contributions. Gordon's remarkable season continues to garner attention, as he leads the league in scoring with an average of 25.4 points per game. Additionally, his strong overall performance includes averaging 9.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 2.5 steals per game, showcasing his all-around capabilities on the court. Such outstanding statistics further solidify Gordon's reputation as a true champion in the league, deserving of recognition for his exceptional skills and contributions to his team's success.
#2. Dominican Republic native Breylin Garcia, standing at 6'6'' and aged 23, is a former Spartans alum from the class of 2026. Before that, he honed his skills at Daytona St. between 2022 and 2024, contributing to their FCSAA Citrus Conference Regular Season Co-Champion title during his time there. Currently, Garcia is showcasing his talents as a professional basketball player in the Dominican Republic. In a recent game, he faced off against the formidable Indios team but, despite his solid performance of 5 points and 6 rebounds in just 12 minutes of play, his team Caneros (8-9) fell short against the Indios (13-4) with a final score of 81-85. This loss occurred during the Places 1-6 group stage, where the Caneros were placed sixth. Garcia's individual stats for the season show an average of 4.4 points per game and 3.0 rebounds per game across the five games he has participated in so far. Despite the outcome of the game against the Indios, Garcia's efforts on the court have not gone unnoticed, and he continues to be a key player for his team.
#3. Australian champion Ky Stattmann, a 6'4'' guard who is 23 years old and graduated from Daytona St. in 2023, is currently playing professionally in Australia. In a recent game, he played a key role in helping the Cairns Marlins secure a victory against the second-ranked Rollers with a score of 103-98 in the Australian NBL One, which is the second division of the league. Despite scoring only 4 points in 18 minutes, Stattmann's contribution was crucial to the team's success. The game was highly anticipated as it featured two of the top 3 ranked teams in the North group, with the Cairns Marlins (7-0) holding the top position. Stattmann's team has been performing exceptionally well, winning all seven games so far in the Regular Season. Stattmann made a significant impact in a previous game against Gold Coast R., scoring 4 crucial points that secured the victory for his team and ultimately led them to be crowned champions. Stattmann has been putting up impressive numbers this season, averaging 10.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game in the seven games he has played. His consistent performance and valuable contributions have been instrumental in the Cairns Marlins' success, solidifying his position as a key player for the team.
#4. Wes Alcegaire, a 6'6'' forward who is 31 years old, is a former Falcons alumni from 2017. He also played for Daytona St. between 2014 and 2015, where he helped them become the Mid-Florida Conference Champion in that year. Currently playing professionally in Paraguay, Alcegaire recently led San Jose to a victory against the fifth-ranked Amambay with a score of 95-85 in the Paraguayan LNB last Thursday. In that game, he scored 12 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and played for 27 minutes. Deportivo San Jose Asuncion, his team, is currently placed first in the league with a record of 12-1. This win marked their tenth consecutive victory, showcasing their dominance in the league. With only one more game left in the Regular Season, the upcoming match will be crucial for their standings. Alcegaire's remarkable performance against Amambay, with 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists, played a key role in securing the win for his team. His impressive play was instrumental in leading his team to success against their opponents. Throughout this season, Alcegaire has maintained good statistics, averaging 11.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game in the seven games he has played so far. It is worth noting that he is a naturalized American player, showcasing his versatility and talent on the court.
#5. Kam'Ron Blue, a 6'7'' guard who is 26 years old and a graduate of Coppin St. in 2023, previously played at Daytona St. from 2018 to 2020 before embarking on his professional basketball career in the Dominican Republic. In a recent match, Blue played a pivotal role in leading his team to a resounding 90-68 victory over the second-ranked Titanes in the Dominican Rep. Liga Nacional de Baloncesto. He showcased his skills as a champion by contributing 12 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists in 31 minutes of play, helping his team secure a convincing win. Currently, Blue's team, Heroes de Moca, holds the fourth position in the Places 1-6 group with a record of 10-7. As they head towards the end of the season, Blue and his team have one more crucial game in the Second Stage, which will be vital for their standings in the league. Throughout the season, Blue has maintained solid statistics, averaging 12.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game over five games, further solidifying his status as a standout finalist in the league.
#6. South Sudanese athlete Jackson Makoi, a 6'5'' guard who is 25 years old, previously a Falcons alumnus from 2021, received the prestigious All-Central Conference Player of the Year award in the same year. Currently playing professionally in Australia, Makoi recently contributed to the Camberwell Dragons' triumph over the league-leading Pacers with a score of 90-85 in the Australian Big V Conference, which is the third division of Australian basketball, this past Saturday. Despite only scoring 2 points in 18 minutes of play, Makoi's overall impact was significant. In another game against Gippsland United, he scored 2 points, secured 1 rebound, and provided 1 assist, ultimately aiding his team in securing the victory and claiming the title of champion. So far this year, Makoi has averaged 1.0 points per game and 2.5 rebounds per game in two games. It is notable that Makoi holds dual citizenship, being both American and South Sudanese, which allows him to compete as a domestic player in South Sudan if he chooses to do so.
#7. Luis Reynoso, a 26-year-old forward standing at 6'5'' tall, graduated from N.Essex CC in 2024. He previously played basketball at Daytona St. between 2020 and 2021 before turning professional in the Dominican Republic. In a recent game in the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto in the Dominican Republic, Reynoso, alongside his teammate Kam'Ron Blue, contributed to a crucial victory for Heroes de Moca against the second-ranked Titanes, with a commanding scoreline of 90-68. During the game, Reynoso played for 6 minutes and managed to score just one point. Despite this modest contribution, his point, along with grabbing 1 rebound, played a part in securing the victory for his team, allowing them to emerge as the champion. Throughout this season, Reynoso has been averaging 0.9 points per game and 1.6 rebounds per game across seven games. It is interesting to note that Reynoso holds dual citizenship for both the United States of America and the Dominican Republic, enabling him to play in the Dominican Republic league as a domestic player.
