Courtesy of Eurobasket LLC Here is the weekly review of the top performing Red Hawks alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Emmanuel Wembi, a 6'9'' center who is 28 years old, graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne in 2019. He previously played in Catawba Valley between 2015 and 2017 before starting his professional career in Spain. Despite his best efforts, Wembi could not lead Menorca (17-15) to victory against Coruna (28-4) in the Spanish Primera FEB (second division) final. In that game, he showcased his skills by recording 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks in just 15 minutes of play. Even though Wembi put up an impressive performance with 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist against Coruna, his team ended up losing 87-76 at home to the second-ranked team. Throughout this season, Wembi has been averaging 6.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assist per game. It is worth noting that he is a naturalized Congolese player, showcasing his talent on the basketball court both domestically and internationally.
#2. Cole Johnson, a 6'4'' guard/forward and 25-year-old Trojans alum from 2023, previously played at Catawba Valley between 2018 and 2019 before turning pro in the TBL. Despite his notable performance, Johnson was unable to assist the Lebanon Leprechauns (17-5) in their recent game against the St. Louis Griffins, where they suffered a 136-124 defeat on the road last Sunday. Johnson managed to score 11 points in just 14 minutes of play. As the regular season in The Basketball League nears its end, Johnson's team has only one crucial game left to play. In the match against St. Louis Griffins, Johnson showcased his skills by contributing 11 points and 3 rebounds, although his team fell short of securing the victory. Throughout this season, Johnson has maintained an average of 7.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. His basketball journey includes participating as a player in the prestigious Eurobasket Summer League, a renowned platform for players aspiring to compete in basketball leagues overseas.
